Controlling cellulose feedstock size allows for modification of cellulose-based carbon-based solid acid size

چکیده

Carbon-based solid acids (CSA) have grown in popularity recent years owing to their strong catalytic activity, thermal stability, and reusability. The size effect has a significant influence on the activity of carbon-based heterogeneous catalysts. impacts raw material shape, sulfonation degree, produced were examined this article. Various sizes microcrystalline cellulose (MCC), nanocrystals (CNCs), cotton fiber pulp (CP) used as carbon sources simple carbon-sulphonation method synthesize acids. CSA high concentration sulphonic acid groups, well hydroxyl carboxyl exhibits remarkable for conversion xylan xylose. generated from MCC most homogeneous greatest degree sulphonation, highest activity. rate hydrolysis xylose was up 58.8% under ideal reaction conditions (150 °C, 4 h), catalyst retained almost its initial level after five cycles with no appreciable deactivation.Graphical abstract

Size Exclusion Chromatography of Cellulose and Cellulose Derivatives

Approximately 2 X 10 ton biomass is produced on land and in water annually (l). Cellulose is the principal structural material in the cell wall of all plants (2). In addition, cellulose can be found in algae, bacteria, and animals (tunicates). Assuming that the average source contains 50% cellulose (Table 1) (35), then approximately 1 X 10 ton cellulose is formed each year. This makes cellulose...

The Size of the Cellulose Microfibril

Recently the lateral width of the cellulose microfibril has been estimated as 30 A rather than about 150 to 200 A, by extrapolation of data from model shadowing experiments. The difference was attributed to a layer of metal deposited during shadowing. However, direct photographs of the same microfibrils parallel and perpendicular to the direction of shadowing, of unshadowed portions of microfib...

Modification of cellulose based membranes by -radiation: Effect of cellulose content

Electrochemical characterization of three cellophane membranes with different content of regenerated cellulose was carried out by determining salt diffusion and ion transport numbers, which were obtained from diffusion and membrane potential measurements carried out with the membranes in contact with NaCl solutions at different concentrations. Results show a decrease for salt permeability with ...

Size-modulated synergy of cellulase clustering for enhanced cellulose hydrolysis.

Immobilization of enzymes onto nanoparticles for enhanced biocatalytic activity via enzyme clustering is a growing field. In this paper, the effect of nanoparticle size on the hydrolytic activity of artificial cellulosomes was investigated. A simple method based on metal affinity coordination was employed to directly conjugate two enzymes, an endoglucanase CelA and an exoglucanase CelE, onto Cd...

Production of Activated Carbon from Cellulose Wastes

Cellulose wastes of a wood and paper factory were used to produce activated carbon. Several chemical agents under various conditions were used for production of activated carbon and hence their adsorption properties have been evaluated. In addition the effect of process parameters such as raw material, chemical agent concentration, impregnation ratio, carbonization temperature, carbonization ti...
